About Bladesmithing
Knife making is one of the oldest arts on the planet, and stone knives go back to Neolithic times. The advance of human civilization and technology was driven in large part by swords, knives and the travel required to obtain components for the best metals, which often (except for India) were not found in the same place (eg. Carbon, Iron, Copper, Nickel).
As a PSU certified Bladesmith, you are about to enter a hobby, part time occupation, or profession that is regarded as an ideal combination of art, science and utility. Nearly everyone on the planet picks up a knife each day, whether to open a package or cook a meal!
Protect your knife rights! Bladesmiths are exempt from all State and Federal bans because of their profession. In fact, many Bladesmiths sell to the military, Law Enforcement, and other security forces. With global instability, terrorism and security concerns, Bladesmiths do well even in tough economic times. With the Democrats controlling DC, many more KNIFE BANS will be coming, and your cert grandfathers and protects you, your collection and your profession. The Courses
There are three PSU Bladesmith courses: Bladesmith, Master Bladesmith and Journeyman Bladesmith. The Basic ($99) course is all you need to start your business, buy wholesale, and protect your collection. The two advanced courses cover more complicated projects, and are great marketing tools for your customers. In addition to your course, in partnership with ETI (one of the largest knife distributors in the world), you are automatically enrolled in the business support network for buying club, marketing assistance, equipment leasing and purchasing, and many other benefits you do not get with other schools. In addition, you are sent RFP's from LE and Military procurement for large orders. Our grads are generally so busy they don't want the extra orders, but they are here to help you get started!
Bladesmith Course: Covers all the basics of knifemaking including both forged and cut blades. You will have a complete knowledge of techniques, mettalurgy, tools, equipment as well as the business side of the craft and setting up your own shop in a garage or spare bedroom. This course is all that is required to buy wholesale and get your business license.
Master Bladesmith Course: More advanced info on machine tools, exotic materials, custom designs, with a more advanced exam.
Journeyman Bladesmith Course: Research questions with private online hints links and sites, covering very advanced topics such as milling, gemstones, multi million dollar classic knives, and much more.
